Baseball Game Preview: Union Grove Wolverines vs. Eastside Eagles

The Union Grove Wolverines will face off against the Eastside Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Union Grove will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Union Grove will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Ola, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Wolverines narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mustangs 4-2.

DJ Aull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryson Gray was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Eastside sidestepped Madison County for a 5-3 victory.

Union Grove's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Eastside, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Union Grove got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2022 against Eastside by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
