Basketball Recap: Bellwood-Antis Gets the Win

If Central wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bellwood-Antis, they should've done a better job of containing Lilly Gerwert. The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils walked away with a 55-46 victory over the Central Dragons on Wednesday thanks in part to Gerwert, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played.

Leigha Clapper was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

The win got Bellwood-Antis back to even at 9-9. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Bellwood-Antis and Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Bellwood-Antis will square off against Central Cambria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 225 places (340 vs. 115). Bellwood-Antis is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Similarly, Central (ranked 522nd) will meet Westmont Hilltop (ranked 231st) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
