Basketball Recap: Granite Hills Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ajak Agoth and Jillian Griffith

Granite Hills was the 50-41 winner over Helix when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Granite Hills Eagles came up short against the Helix Highlanders on Friday, falling 54-29. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Granite Hills' loss came despite strong showings from Jillian Griffith and Ajak Agoth. Griffith posted 11 points, while Agoth had 12 points. The dominant performance gave Griffith a new career-high in points.

Leading Helix to victory were Samara Patterson and Jordyn McMillan. Patterson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while McMillan dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, McMillan is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Michaelle Whyte, who scored nine points.

Granite Hills' record now sits at 11-14. As for Helix, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 10-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite Hills will host Grossmont at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Granite Hills surely won't give up without a fight. As for Helix, they will square off against Steele Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on February 14th.
