Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Santiago

Centennial is 1-9 against Santiago since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. Centennial is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Centennial's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Cajon 3-0. Give the Huskies' defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Santiago, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against San Dimas on Tuesday as Santiago made off with a 4-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won five games by three goals or more so far this season.

Centennial pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four contests. As for Santiago, their win bumped their record up to 7-1-1.

Centennial came up short against Santiago when the teams last played back in January, falling 2-0. Can Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
