Basketball Recap: Mccook Starts off Right with Win over Chase County

McCook had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 win over the Chase County Longhorns. The Bison pushed the score to 55-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.

Brody Graham went supernova, going 6-for-8 en route to 13 points and six assists. Bryson Gullion was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: McCook was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They racked up 13 more assists than Chase County's also-impressive total of ten.

Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was James Bomba, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Noah Rau, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards.

Chase County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, McCook will take on Norton in a tournament on Thursday. As for Chase County, they will head out to face off against Sidney on Friday.
