Basketball Game Preview: Weston Ranch Cougars vs. Tokay Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cougars duke it out with the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Weston Ranch came up short against Tokay on Thursday, falling 53-29. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1034th, while the Tigers are ranked 451st).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ja'naysha Green, who posted nine points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last seven games she's played. Alana McGee was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 11 points.

Tokay is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points over those games. As for Weston Ranch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
