            Baseball Recap: Alexander Cougars vs. New Manchester Jaguar        
        
		
        
        
            After a string of three wins, Alexander's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell  9-5 to the New Manchester Jaguar. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguar earlier this season, when they won  6-1.

Alexander got a good showing from  Brayden Mathis, who   pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. The Cougars are 4-2 when  Mathis allows three or  fewer  earned runs, but 7-14 otherwise.
 At the plate,  Jon Bemus made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run.
Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for New Manchester, they moved to 7-15 with that  win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
 Alexander and New Manchester could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage  in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. The Cougars (ranked 171st) will meet Troup County (ranked 32nd)  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Meanwhile,  New Manchester will  square off against  McEachern  at 5:55  p.m.  on Friday with a big rank  disadvantage  (326 vs. 84).
