Basketball Recap: Basis Independent Silicon Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against El Primero last Friday, Basis Independent Silicon Valley came back down to earth. The Basis Independent Silicon Valley Bobcats were outmatched by the Summit Shasta Black Bears and fell 65-8. The Bobcats have struggled against the Black Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Niesha Ramirez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards for Summit Shasta. That makes it six consecutive games in which Ramirez has scored at least a third of Summit Shasta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Recia Ciriales, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 10 points and eight steals.

Basis Independent Silicon Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Summit Shasta, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing The Nueva School the next time they take the court. Summit Shasta will host The Nueva School at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Basis Independent Silicon Valley will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
