Football Recap: Goose Creek Comes Up Short

Goose Creek had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-10 to make it seven. They were beaten by the Stratford Knights 48-0. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Knights are ranked 18th).

As for Stratford, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points over those games.

Stratford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jachin Davis, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 117 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Another back making a difference was Meliq McGowan, who rushed for 110 yards and two scores on only ten carries.

As of now, neither Goose Creek nor Stratford have any future games scheduled.
