Basketball Recap: Adelanto Takes a Loss

Adelanto fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Barstow on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Barstow Aztecs by a score of 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Saints have suffered since November 17, 2023.

Despite the loss, Adelanto still got an impressive performance from Nyomi Sanchez, who shot 7-for-13 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. Those 29 points gave Sanchez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ka'Lonie Mack, who posted four points and four steals.

Emersyn Ebel was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine boards for Barstow. Jade Chavez was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Adelanto's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Barstow, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-11.

Adelanto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-41 win against Granite Hills on the 29th. As for Barstow, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-27 loss against Victor Valley on the 29th.
