Football Game Preview: Blue Valley West Jaguars vs. Blue Valley Tigers + How To Watch

Blue Valley West is 2-8 against Blue Valley since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Blue Valley West is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-9 win over Blue Valley Southwest. With the Jaguars ahead 42-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Blue Valley West didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as William Gana, Cade Wysong, and Mo Darboe picked up one apiece. That interception marked the first that Gana has snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Blue Valley faced Blue Valley Northwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers took down the Huskies 30-14. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but the Tigers were the (much) better team in the second half.

Blue Valley's win came from a few key players Blue Valley West will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dan Sogard, who threw for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes. Miller Simpson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Blue Valley's run defense was locked in: Blue Valley Northwest could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The Tigers' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.4.

Blue Valley pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for Blue Valley West, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Blue Valley West won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, slipping by Blue Valley 35-34. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
