Softball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bryan on Saturday, Omaha North came back down to earth. The Vikings fell 9-5 to the Lincoln High Links on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 17-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Lydia Liekhus put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Anna Bartsch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Elyse Johnson, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Omaha North's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lincoln High, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Omaha North will challenge rival Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lincoln High is set to square off against their familiar foe Lincoln North Star at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
