Softball Recap: Omaha North Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bryan on Saturday, Omaha North came back down to earth. The Vikings fell 9-5 to the Lincoln High Links on Saturday. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Links from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Lydia Liekhus was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Anna Bartsch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Elyse Johnson was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Omaha North's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lincoln High, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Omaha North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-2 defeat against Bryan on the 26th. As for Lincoln High, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-2 loss against Lincoln North Star on the 26th.
