Basketball Game Preview: Yreka Miners vs. University Prep Panthers

Yreka is 2-8 against University Prep since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Yreka Miners will host the University Prep Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Yreka saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell to Las Plumas 39-34.

Meanwhile, University Prep came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 victory over the Cubs. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Cubs are ranked 641st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

University Prep pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Yreka, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Yreka came up short against University Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 56-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of University Prep's Joanna Warren, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards.
