Softball Recap: Aquinas Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Aquinas picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Paul Wildcats 13-12.

Ainsley Wollmer was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Vandenberg, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Aquinas lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Aquinas pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for St. Paul, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aquinas will challenge Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Slammers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.39 runs per game on average), something the Monarchs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Paul, they will face off against York at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
