Softball Recap: Red Oak Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Red Oak put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Howe Lions get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Eelyn Martin and Farrah Hempfling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Martin tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Hempfling tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Hempfling went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Hempfling a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaytee Hood was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Branscum, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Red Oak lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Red Oak's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.
