Softball Recap: Burke County Comes Up Short

Burke County managed to slip by Thomson the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bears came up short against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 23-14. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Alexis Mullis made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Malia Washington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

With the defeat, Burke County broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-11. As for Thomson, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Coming up, Burke County is taking a road trip to take on Screven County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Thomson, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Elbert County at 5:00 p.m.
