Basketball Recap: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. Elkin Buckin' Elks
The Surry Central Golden Eagles stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Elkin 76-48 at home. The win was familiar territory for Surry Central who now have five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Surry Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayden Wilmoth, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Wilmoth has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Wall, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Surry Central is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Elkin, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Surry Central will take on the Falcons at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forbush is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Elkin's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rams at 8:00 p.m. on February 6th.
