Preview: Mira Loma Matadors vs. Pioneer Patriots
Mira Loma is 0-10 against Pioneer since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mira Loma Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Pioneer Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Mira Loma will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 892nd, while Pioneer is ranked 243rd).
On Tuesday, Mira Loma took a serious blow against Dixon, falling 61-18. Mira Loma was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pioneer gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodland 64-26 on the road. Pioneer pushed the score to 58-25 by the end of the third, a deficit Woodland had no chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Olivia Gill, who scored 18 points. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. Ava Contreras was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mira Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Pioneer, their win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-3.
Mira Loma was taken down by Pioneer 70-25 in their previous meeting back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mira Loma was down 45-9.
