After a string of four wins, Alburnett's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Marquette Defenders by a score of 6-5. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Defenders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Alburnett's defeat dropped their record down to 26-10. As for Marquette, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Marquette beat Alburnett by a score of 5-4 later that day.
