Basketball Recap: Shelby Nussle Key Part of a Team Effort in Trojans Win

Quincy posted their closest victory since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Oroville Tigers 52-50.

Quincy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shelby Nussle, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. Madeline Blaufuss was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Despite the defeat, Oroville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gianna Brown dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 40% of Oroville's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Serenity Miller, who scored seven points and eight boards.

Quincy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Oroville, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Quincy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 39-32 loss against Orland on the 11th. Oroville has also already played their next matchup, a 39-24 victory against Hamilton on the 11th.
