Softball Recap: Denver East Takes a Loss

Denver East had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it four. They lost 9-2 to the Denver South Ravens. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Angels couldn't push the score so high this time.

Grace Faris made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Angeli Zavala Benavente, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Denver South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Considering they have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Denver South's side, Olivia Gibson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Gibson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Denver South let Emma Gibson and Maya Krosky run wild. Gibson went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Krosky went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Krosky has posted since back in October of 2024. Kynley Price also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Denver East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-3 win against Thomas Jefferson on the 18th. As for Denver South, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-4 loss against Northfield on the 18th.
