Baseball Recap: Lee County Has No Trouble Against Cairo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lee County). They put the hurt on the Cairo Syrupmakers with a sharp 10-0 victory on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Durrah Butler's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Graysen Spears was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Ethan Powell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win got Lee County back to even at 2-2. As for Cairo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Lee County will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bainbridge at 5:45 p.m. Lee County is facing Bainbridge at the right time seeing as Bainbridge is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cairo, they are taking a road trip to take on Tiftarea Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
