Recap: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Olympian Eagles
After flying high against the Ramona Bulldogs last Friday, the Fallbrook Warriors came back down to earth. Fallbrook fell 61-50 to Olympian on Monday. If Fallbrook hoped to take revenge for the 46-44 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Fallbrook's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Nordeen, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 22 rebounds. Nordeen is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Janice Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fallbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympian only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Asia Darcuiel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Olympian, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 steals. Darcuiel hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Agpaoa, who scored eight points along with seven assists and two steals.
Fallbrook's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Olympian, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Fallbrook will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Valley Center at 5:30 p.m. Valley Center will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 951st, while Fallbrook is ranked 343rd). Olympian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Carlsbad at 9:00 a.m. on January 20th.
