If La Costa Canyon wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Oceanside, they should've done a better job of containing Kaitlyn Kaye. The Oceanside Pirates enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over the La Costa Canyon Mavericks on Wednesday thanks in part to Kaye, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 22 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Aliyah Samad was another key player, putting up six points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, La Costa Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Keani Brown dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards. The match was Brown's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Izzy Alexander, who earned ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Oceanside's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for La Costa Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.

Oceanside has already played their next game, a 53-47 defeat against Carlsbad on the 14th. As for La Costa Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-32 loss against Torrey Pines on the 14th.
