Preview: Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies vs. Ocean View Seahawks
After three games on the road, Godinez Fundamental is heading back home. They will take on the Ocean View Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Godinez Fundamental is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ocean View in California (Godinez Fundamental is ranked 410th, while Ocean View is ranked 1001st).
Last Friday, Godinez Fundamental escaped with a win against Segerstrom by the margin of a single free throw, 42-41.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Godinez Fundamental to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julissa Mota, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Mota has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Esteban, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Ocean View lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 65-33 loss at the hands of Katella. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Ocean View has suffered yet this season.
Godinez Fundamental has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Ocean View, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-17.
Godinez Fundamental strolled past Ocean View when the teams last played on January 5th by a score of 45-28. Will Godinez Fundamental repeat their success, or does Ocean View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
