Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Bakersfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bakersfield Christian). They breezed by the Bakersfield Drillers to the tune of 89-24 on Thursday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Drillers are ranked 531st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bakersfield Christian was led to victory by Kalaya Miller and Alexis Bila. Miller dropped a triple-double on ten points, 11 boards, and ten steals, while Bila went 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points along with six assists and four steals. With that strong performance, Miller is now averaging an impressive 3.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Addilyn Prestridge, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Bakersfield Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win (which was Bakersfield Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 7-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Bakersfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Coincidentally, Bakersfield Christian and Bakersfield will both be playing Independence the next time they take the court. Bakersfield Christian will head out to face Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bakersfield will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
