Recap: Highlands Scots vs. Rio Vista Rams
The Highlands Scots suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 51-20 defeat at the hands of Rio Vista. Highlands was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rio Vista apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Rio Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Guadalupe Valdenegro, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Valdenegro has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samiah Holley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Highlands and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for Rio Vista, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.
Highlands the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Creative Connections Arts Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Creative Connections Arts Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Rio Vista, they will head out on the road to challenge San Juan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Juan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
