Basketball Recap: Point Loma Wins Going Away Against Del Lago Academy

Point Loma saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Del Lago Academy Firebirds with a sharp 37-16 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pointers.

Point Loma found their leader in sophomore River Hargett, who shot 58% from the field on her way to 14 points and five boards. Those 58% shooting accuracy set a new season-high mark for Hargett. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Smith, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Point Loma smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Point Loma now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Del Lago Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, Point Loma will host Canyon Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Del Lago Academy, they will take on Horizon Prep in a tournament on Thursday.
