Basketball Recap: Elk Grove Takes a Loss

Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Franklin Wildcats and fell 48-14. The game marked the Thundering Herd's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Aletha Singleton had an outrageously good game for Franklin as she posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. What's more, Singleton also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rachel Song, who put up eight points.

Elk Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Franklin, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-13.

Elk Grove and Franklin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Elk Grove will face off against Sheldon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday down 688 places (993 vs. 305). Meanwhile, Franklin (ranked 704th) will meet Monterey Trail (ranked 141st) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
