Soccer Recap: Sonora Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Sonora was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Escalon Cougars. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Cougars are ranked 819th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hailey Watkins and Estrella Machado scored all three of Sonora's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.
