Football Recap: Trinity Academy Falls to Garden Plain in First Game of Season

Trinity Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 34-15 bruising from the Garden Plain Owls on Friday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Owls recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Zac Zimmerman threw for 131 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Korie Murphy was his top target, picking up 84 receiving yards. On the ground, Yamnoel Oyola rushed for 63 yards and one TD.

Emrick Hays was a one-man wrecking crew For Garden Plain. as he rushed for 327 yards while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Those 327 rushing yards gave Hays a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Academy will take on Inman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garden Plain, they will challenge Conway Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 893 yards in their previous games.
