Softball Recap: Midtown Knights vs. Chamblee Bulldogs
Midtown had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 9-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Chamblee Bulldogs, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in September.
Midtown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annie Evens, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Chamblee, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-15. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Chamblee's side, Stella Barton made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Barton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten matchups.
In other batting news, Hannah Sullivan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery D'Auria, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As of now, neither Midtown nor Chamblee have any future games scheduled.
