Softball Recap: Academy for Classical Education Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Academy for Classical Education had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Berrien Rebels 10-9. The win was nothing new for the Gryphons as they're now sitting on five straight.

The team relied heavily on Reese Thames, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She also put up a stolen base, which was her first of the season. Avery Stone was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and four runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Academy for Classical Education kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September.

Academy for Classical Education's victory bumped their record up to 22-9. As for Berrien, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-21.

Academy for Classical Education will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rebels: the pair will be back at it again later today.
