Basketball Game Preview: Carlsbad Lancers vs. Pacific Ridge Firebirds

The Carlsbad Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Pacific Ridge Firebirds at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Carlsbad's victory against St. Augustine wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Lancers made off with a 61-60 win over the Saints. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pacific Ridge). They walked away with a 64-55 victory over Kearny on Tuesday.

Carlsbad better keep an eye on Gavin Fletcher. He was instrumental in Pacific Ridge's win, shooting 59% from the field to rack up 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Fletcher has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Malick Jallow, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Pacific Ridge's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Carlsbad, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Carlsbad against Pacific Ridge when the teams last played back in February of 2018, as the team secured a 62-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
