Soccer Game Preview: Schurr vs. Irvine

The Schurr Spartans will take on the Irvine Vaqueros in a tournament on Saturday. Schurr's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Schurr and Santa Fe meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Spartans lost 5-1 to the Chiefs. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Schurr were already down 4-0.

Meanwhile, neither Irvine nor Santa Ana could gain the upper hand on Friday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

With that draw, Irvine's record moves to 1-3-2. As for Schurr, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
