Softball Recap: Washington-Wilkes Falls to Evans in First Game of Season

Washington-Wilkes unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 5-0 to the Evans Knights on Friday. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Washington-Wilkes saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylie Welborn, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Washington-Wilkes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-1 defeat against Loganville Christian Academy on the 8th. As for Evans, they have also already played their next game, a 6-5 win against Screven County on the 8th.
