Softball Recap: North Callaway Beats Elsberry for Their Third Straight Win

North Callaway had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Elsberry Indians by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Thunderbirds, who suffered an 8-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Megan Schmidt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Neal, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Olsson, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

North Callaway's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Elsberry, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coincidentally, North Callaway and Elsberry will both be playing Palmyra the next time they take the field. The Thunderbirds will head out to face the Panthers at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Indians will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
