Basketball Recap: Don Lugo Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Don Lugo extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were beaten by the Walnut Mustangs 69-34. The Conquistadores lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 45-39 score last time.

As for Walnut, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 59.5 points this season.

Leading Walnut to victory were Elise Lopez and Madison Shih. Lopez went 8-for-12 on her way to 16 points, while Shih posted 12 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Lopez a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Jada Jao, who earned six points and six steals.

Don Lugo has already played their next game, a 67-25 defeat against San Bernardino on the 26th. As for Walnut, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-44 loss against Birmingham on the 25th.
