Softball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Takes a Loss

St. Michael the Archangel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Pius X Warriors. The Guardians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Sophie Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Samantha Dorsch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

St. Michael the Archangel's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for St. Pius X, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.

St. Michael the Archangel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 win against St. Teresa's Academy on the 7th. As for St. Pius X, they have also already played their next matchup, a 13-4 defeat against Lexington on the 8th.
