Basketball Recap: Banning Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Banning won the last time they faced Gardena and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Banning Pilots came out on top against the Gardena Panthers by a score of 42-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pilots.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Banning to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshlyn Harris, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavanna Price, who posted five points along with 15 boards and six steals.

Banning smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Loss or not, Gardena got some senior leadership from Shamia Overton and Sanahya Hubbard. Overton dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, while Hubbard put up nine points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Overton is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Saniya Keyes, who scored four points and eight boards.

Banning's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points over those games. As for Gardena, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Banning wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-32 victory against San Pedro on the 7th. As for Gardena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-0 win against Rancho Dominguez on the 7th.
