Volleyball Recap: Columbus Falls to Fremont in First Game of Season

Columbus kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Fremont Tigers, falling 3-0. The Discoverers have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Columbus was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Columbus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Bloebaum had 17 assists and ten digs.

Columbus has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Kearney on the 30th. As for Fremont, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Benson on the 30th.
