Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 61-10 defeat at the hands of the Huntington Park Spartans. The Rough Riders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Huntington Park was led to victory by Ingryd Hernandez and Kandie Chavez. Hernandez posted 28 points, while Chavez earned 21 points. The game was Hernandez's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Huntington Park, their record is now 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt has already played their next matchup (against Garfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Huntington Park will venture away from home to face off against South East at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Huntington Park is facing South East at the right time seeing as South East is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
