Baseball Recap: Cross Creek Takes a Loss

Cross Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Westside Patriots, falling 22-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 last Tuesday.

Eric Crawford and Benjamin Johnson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Crawford scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Johnson scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Crawford a new career-high in hits (two).

Cross Creek's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Westside, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Cross Creek has already played their next match, a 14-3 defeat against Hephzibah on the 22nd. As for Westside, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Howard on the 25th.
