Baseball Recap: Slippery Rock Takes a Loss

Slippery Rock lost to Hickory back in May of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rockets fell 6-1 to the Hornets. The contest marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Doug Popovec led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Kunsman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

This is the second loss in a row for Slippery Rock and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Hickory, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Slippery Rock will challenge Mercer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hickory, they will face off against Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
