Basketball Recap: Brawley Has No Trouble Against Holtville

Brawley hadn't done well against Holtville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Brawley Wildcats blew past the Holtville Vikings 50-24. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since February 9, 2024.

Dayanna Ortiz was the offensive standout of the match as she posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Trujillo, who put up eight points.

Holtville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Macy Singh, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Mallorie Kellum, who scored nine points and seven rebounds.

Brawley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Holtville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Brawley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-32 victory against Southwest EC on the 16th. Holtville has also already played their next game, a 42-27 win against Calipatria on the 16th.
