Basketball Recap: West Hills Victorious

West Hills posted their closest victory since December 26, 2024 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southwest EC Eagles, sneaking past 34-31. The score was all tied up 11-11 at the break, but the Wolf Pack were the better team in the second half.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marlene Melero, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Melero is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Guzman, who almost dropped a double-double with nine boards and nine steals.

West Hills' win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Southwest EC, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 6-2.

West Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-37 defeat against Santa Fe Christian on the 6th. As for Southwest EC, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-16 loss against Canyon Hills on the 6th.
