Softball Game Preview: Severance Silver Knights vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks

The Severance Silver Knights will take on the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Severance is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Pueblo Central, who was ranked 13th at the time (Severance was ranked 22nd). The Silver Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wildcats on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Silver Knights.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain got the win against Northridge on Friday by a conclusive 12-2.

Addison Gutschick made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Gutschick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Michaela (MJ) Ewen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Corinne Harlow, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Cheyenne Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only posted an OBP of .269.

Severance's victory bumped their record up to 19-4-2. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.
