Basketball Recap: Elite Takes a Loss

Elite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were beaten by the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs 72-11. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-7.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Kendo Cook, Amaiya Seeberry, and Savannah Barrow posted two points each. Cook also led the team in rebounds with 11. Abrea Williams-Anderson took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

St. Vincent de Paul's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hailey Sarlatte led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, Sarlatte is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Claire Ellis was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine boards and four steals.

Elite's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for St. Vincent de Paul, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Elite wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-24 loss against Leroy Greene Academy on the 7th. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-31 defeat against Ukiah on the 7th.
