Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Washington Union

The Centennial Huskies and the Washington Union Panthers will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for Centennial's offense. They fell 2-0 to Western Christian on Monday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Fighting Lancers are ranked 312th).

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Washington Union brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Their defense stepped up to hand Chowchilla a 9-0 shutout on Monday. The game marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

The win got Washington Union back to even at 4-4-3. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
