Millard West is 9-1 against Bellevue East since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Wildcats will square off against the Chieftains at 9:00 a.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Millard West had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fossil Ridge on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the SaberCats a 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since August 22nd (when they won 11-0).

Addison Burdorf was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Burdorf was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
Burdorf wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lily Van Boskirk, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Van Boskirk has posted over her last 12 matchups. Another was Alex Finley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Millard West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bellevue East entered their tilt with Liberty on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They skirted past the Blue Jays 7-5.
Like Millard West, Bellevue East also got a great game from a two-way player: Alisha Mcmurtry. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Mcmurtry has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Audrina Urwin was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Ariana Wells also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Millard West's record now sits at 8-4. As for Bellevue East, their record is now 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Millard West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bellevue East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Millard West came out on top in a nail-biter against Bellevue East in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
